Brian Hollingworth Ceramic Animal Sculpture for the Garden

Ceramic animal Sculpture           Garden sculpture          HARE SCULPTURE            ANIMAL PRINTS

Animal sculptures and statues provide a focal point to any garden.

The Patriarch Silver Back Gorilla        Bronze Resin   A life size garden sculpture (shown in the pictures above)

The sculpture shown in the three pictures above is an example of a garden sculpture made to commission. The sculpture was designed in consultation with the client. The design is discussed and Brian Hollingworth prepares sketches of ideas. These are then shown to the client and a final design is arrived at together. The original garden sculpture is made in clay, pictures are emailed as the work progresses so that the client is able to see the work taking shape and is included in every stage. The clay is transported to a moulding and casting workshop where it is cast. The final sculpture can then be made in bronze or bronze resin.       Pictures of this sculpture being made can be viewed here.

A Ceramic Garden Sculpture

An alternative method is for Brian Hollingworth to hand build a sculpture in clay. The maximum size possible is smaller than life size. The sculpture shown below is an example of a ceramic sculpture of a gorilla also made for garden display

Ceramic Sculpture of a Silverback Gorilla

(Shown in the picture on the left)

Brian Hollingworth has specialised in custom made garden sculpture for many years. He has a special interest in primates and there is a demand for these garden sculptures. He works with the client to produce each garden sculpture, providing preliminary sketches for discussion before arriving at a suitable design. This design then forms the basis for the sculpture.

The sculpture on the left was designed for a garden specially  for the use of disabled children. It was placed at the side of a timber deck in the garden, where it could be viewed. The eyes of the Silverback Gorilla looked across the deck towards the children.

This garden sculpture is also shown on the Gorilla page of this web site. Other gorilla sculpture is also shown there, giving an indication of the range of garden sculpture made for clients.

Brian Hollingworth has recently completetd a life size sculpture of a Silverback Gorilla  (shown above).

Silverback Gorilla Sculpture

Ceramic Garden Sculpture

This sculpture was made in stoneware clay and was a completely one-off garden sculpture. It was hand modelled and fired twice in an electric kiln, the second firing being to 1260C. This compacts the clay and makes it completely waterproof and weather proof. The colours on this Silverback Gorilla are stains and glazes.

Work can be made in bronze and bronze resin both of which are suitable for exterior or garden display. Brian Hollingworth is a sculptor with a lifetimes experience of producing animal forms. He is able to adapt and modify all the methods he has evolved and used over many years.

If there are particular animal sculptures that you have in mind for your garden Brian Hollingworth is able to work with you to design and make a suitable sculpture for your garden.

Any Animal Sculpture suitable as garden sculpture can be commissioned

This Lying Hare sculpture is another example where Brian Hollingworth was able to work with the client to design a site specific sculpture. The hare was to be placed in a position in the garden where it could be viewed from a particular window of the house. It was to be as natural looking  as possible. The client also required a bronze finish. Here Brian Hollingworth used glazes and stains that gave the hare sculpture a soft bronze finish.

A picture taken in the sculptors own garden before the hare was delivered. This picture shows the sculpture in greater detail. A base was made to go underneath the sculpture for easy handling so that it could be moved when the lawn was cut. It is this attention to detail and care in construction that marks Brian Hollingworth out from others. He has always been meticulous in his attitude to his work.

These pictures indicate the variety of gorilla and other sculpture made by Brian.  Garden sculpture and statues can be commissioned to feature any animal of your choice. All Garden Sculpture is frost proof and waterproof. The Hare sculpture is a recent addition to the range.

The sculptures are equally at home in the house or garden. They are made in high fired stoneware clay, having been fired to 1250C.

Any animal statue may be commissioned

The garden sculptures are weatherproof and frost proof and provide an unusual sculptural focus in the garden or conservatory
