Blocking the shape

The shape is blocked out quickly and instinctively. Brian Hollingworth has immense knowledge built from observation; he draws on this knowledge as the first shape emerges from the clay.  

Positioning an arm

Each section of the body is shaped and positioned as the composition begins.

The constructed form

Gradually he adds pieces of shaped clay to construct the sculptural form.
